Bandung, fmipa.itb.ac.id; On 3^rd Sept 2014, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) ITB held a public lecture to FMIPA students batch 2014. The event took place in East Public Lecture Hall invited Syauki Amin, the CEO of PT Siskem Aneka Indonesia as speaker lead by moderator Zeily Nurachman, D.Sc as biochemistry lecturer in Chemistry study program of ITB.

The lecture aimed to introduce essential concept, academic culture, think, learn, and how a student should have prime study motivation. At least 300 students were attending the public lecture listening and addressed questions directly to speakers.

”FMIPA people is like a diesel engine. Starts slowly, and then running outnumbered the engineering,” humoured Zeily Nurachman while opened the event. “I’m alumnus of FMIPA Chemistry ’85. And now as CEO of PT Siskem Aneka Indonesia,” introduced Syauki Amin starting the lecture.

Further, Syauki Amin shared his experiences as a student, after graduate life, to the key of success to become entrepreneur in chemistry. “This is what so called science-preneur. The blend between science and preneur. Who says natural scienctist can’t be a businessman ?” he said in enthusiast.

“there is nothing instant. I started from down below, as technician, crawled to manager position, then out to start my own business. To become a science-preneur takes ; be action oriented, make products simple and understandable, start small and aim high, try-test-revise, learn from failures, follow a mildstone schedule, reward your heroic activity, and work-work-work.”

The public lecture from Syauki Amin was closed with questions and answer session lead by the moderator. “The event was very much motivating because all Mr Syauki experience was told in details. We’d like to have more of these kind of events.” Said Deasy Octavia, a student of FMIPA batch 2014. [IPM]
