PROF. SANDI KLAVZAR TALKED ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF VISIBILITY IN GRAPH THEORY AT THE CTS FMIPA ITB
BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -One of the experts in graph theory and combinatorics from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Prof. Sandi Klavžar, gave a guest lecture at the 10th series of the 2023 Combinatorial Today Series (The 2023 CTS) webinar on Friday, October 17, 2023 at 14.00-15.30 WIB. The title of the lecture was Visibility Concepts in Graph TheoryIn his presentation, Prof. Klavžar discussed various concepts of visibility in graph theory, including (mutual-visibility set ),(dual mutual-visibility set),(outer mutual-visibility set),(dual mutual-visibility set),(dual mutual-visibility set),and(total mutual-visibility set. Recent results related to these concepts were also discussed.
Dr. Rinovia Simanjuntak, as moderator in this session, said that Prof. Klavžar is one of the leading figures in graph theory and combinatorics. “He has made significant contributions in the fields of graph theory, combinatorics, theoretical computer science, applications of discrete mathematics, and the Tower of Hanoi problem. He has written around 375 scientific articles and has been cited more than 15,600 times. For his contribution, in 2007, he was awarded the Slovenian National Award (Zoisova Nagrada) for Highest Achievements in Mathematicsshe said. “Besides actively writing, his dedication to developing the field of combinatorics was demonstrated when he became an Associate Editor on Discrete Applied Mathematics Journal, Ars Mathematica Contemporanea, and The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics, Advisory Editor on Discussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, and Communications Faculty of Sciences University of Ankara Series A1 Mathematics and Statistics, Editor on European Journal of Combinatorics, Bulletin of the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society, Graphs and Combinatorics, MATCH Communications in Mathematical and in Computer Chemistry, Communications in Combinatorics and Optimization, Discrete Mathematics Letters, Iranian Journal of Mathematical Chemistry, Iranian Journal of Mathematical Sciences and Informatics, and Kragujevac Journal of Mathematics." she added.
The 2023 CTS activity was organized by Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), in collaboration with Pusat Kolaborasi Riset Teori Graf dan Kombinatorika Indonesia (Center for Indonesian Graph Theory and Combinatorics Research Collaboration). Throughout 2023, this online activity will provide 11 editions and present leading speakers in the field of graph theory and combinatorics from various countries including Australia, Czech Republic, Italy, Philippines, Austria, Slovenia, Canada, and of course Indonesia.
Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro, as Chair of the 2023 CTS Committee and Chair of Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group FMIPA ITB, said that holding this CTS was a commitment from Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group, FMIPA ITB, to continue to exist in the context of scientific development of graph theory and combinatorics, and to continue trying to expand research collaboration with various world centers of excellence. This webinar was attended by around 30 participants consisting of lecturers, researchers, and undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students from various countries such as Indonesia, Japan, England, the Philippines, and several other countries.
