PROF. KIKI A. SUGENG (UI) GAVE A GUEST LECTURE AT THE CTS FMIPA ITB

Bagikan:

BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -Combinatorics Today Series (CTS) is one of the routine webinar activities held by Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). This year is the 3rd year that this series of webinar activities has been running. Throughout 2023, this online activity will provide 11 editions. This activity is carried out to find out the latest developments/progress in the fields of graph theory and combinatorics. Therefore, Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro as Chair of the CTS committee invited a number of well-known speakers from various countries. This aims to increase knowledge of the development of various topics in the field of graph theory which might become an initial effort to collaborate together in the future. On Friday, November 3, 2023, the 9th CTS event invited a lecturer and researcher from Indonesia, namely Prof. Kiki Ariyanti Sugeng.

Prof. Kiki Ariyanti Sugeng (the University of Indonesia) is one of the most productive Indonesian researchers in the field of combinatorics, especially the large field of graph labeling. She became an academic staff at UI exactly a year after getting her bachelor’s degree at the Department of Mathematics, UI in 1985. Then, she became a researcher or assistant professor in 2001 at UI and has been a Professor since 2023. Apart from having a good academic career, Prof. Kiki is also active in various organizations, including being vice president at the Institute Combinatorics and its Applications in 2018-2023. She has also been active as a managing editor at Electronic Journal of Graph Theory and Application (EJGTA) since 2013, and she has much more experience in leadership of other organizations. During her career as a researcher, she has had more than 100 articles in various journals and conference proceedings with an H-index of 12 and 416 citations.

The webinar wasopened by Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro as Chair of the CTS Committee and led by Prof. Hilda Assiyatun as moderator. Presentation given by Prof. Kiki entitled “On Modular Regularity Strength for Some Families of Graphs”Recent results on modular irregular strength values of various graph families were presented very well, accompanied by innovative labeling proofs. Some of the graph families explored are the graf rose, daisy, dan graf sunflower. At the end of her presentation, Prof. Kiki provided several open problems related to modular irregularity strength values values for other graph classes, especially for graph classes obtained from the results of operations on graphs whose modular irregularity strength values are already known.

This webinar was attended by around 38 participants consisting of lecturers, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students from Indonesia and neighboring countries.
