KK Matematika Kombinatorika menggelar Program Pengayaan untuk Guru Matematika SMA

COMBINATORIAL MATHEMATICS RESEARCH GROUP HELD AN ENRICHMENT PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS TEACHERS

Bagikan:

BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), in collaboration with Pusat Kolaborasi Riset Teori Graf dan Kombinatorika Indonesia (Center for Indonesian Graph Theory and Combinatorics Research Collaboration) held a community service for high school mathematics teachers with the title “Program Pengayaan untuk Guru Matematika SMA (Enrichment Program for High School Mathematics Teachers)” on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 08.30 – 13.00 WIB. This event was held in a hybrid (online and offline) at the Study Hall, CAS Mathematics ITB Building, JI. Ganesha 10 Bandung.

Welcome speech and introduction were given by Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro (FMIPA ITB) who talked about the importance of mastering mathematics for the younger generation in welcoming Golden Indonesia 2045. The moderator was Prof. Kiki Ariyanti Sugeng, Ph.D. (FMIPA UI) and the host was Hilda Assiyatun, Ph.D. (FMIPA ITB). There were four speakers at this community service event, who delivered presentations in two sessions. The first session was filled by Warsoma Djohan, M.Si. (FMIPA ITB) with the presentation entitled “Kalkulus dengan Geogebra (Calculus with Geogebra)” and Dr. Aditya Purwa Santika (FMIPA ITB) with the presentation entitled “Bermain Ular Tangga dan Abstraksi Matematika (Playing Snakes and Ladders and Mathematical Abstraction)”. The second session was filled by Dr. Didi Rosiyadi, M.Kom (BRIN) with the presentation entitled “Berkenalan dengan Persandian (Getting to Know Coding)” and Djoko Suprijanto, Ph.D. (FMIPA ITB) with the presentation entitled “Berkenalan dengan Teori Koding (Getting to Know Coding Theory)”.

The presentation entitled “Kalkulus dengan Geogebra” delivered by Warsoma Djohan, M.Si. received the most attention from the participants. This was because the material presented can be directly applied in mathematics teaching by high school mathematics teachers. The material was supported by a demo on the use of Geogebra which was delivered in a relaxed manner and included comedy inserts to make the audience laugh. Using Geogebra is very interactive in explaining mathematical material involving functions, including limits, derivatives and integrals. This can help high school mathematics teachers in Indonesia to attract more student interest in learning mathematics. During the question and answer session, there were many teachers who asked questions, both offline and online. There were even teachers who asked to organize additional special events to explore how to use Geogebra.

Dr. Aditya Purwa Santika with the presentation entitled “Bermain Ular Tangga dan Abstraksi Matematika” provided insight to teachers in terms of how mathematical abstractions can be applied to games. Dr. Didi Rosiyadi, M.Kom. whose presentation entitled “Berkenalan dengan Persandian” gave teachers insight into how mathematics is applied to secure the confidentiality of the data sent every day via the internet. Without the application of mathematics, the data sent every day can be stolen by other people. Financial data in bank transactions is one example of data that is secured using this encryption. Djoko Suprijanto, Ph.D with the presentation entitled “Berkenalan dengan Teori Koding” presented teachers insight into how mathematics is applied to repair data that is damaged or experiencing interference when data is transferred via the internet or electromagnetic waves. Without the application of mathematics, the data sent every day via the internet can be damaged and unreadable by the recipient.

There were around 50 people who attended offline and around 140 people who attended online via Zoom meeting who came from various high schools in Indonesia. It is hoped that this activity can bring Institut Teknologi Bandung closer to being a science, arts and technology-based campus through activities that can be accessed by the general public.
