ISO TRAINING FOR FINAL YEAR CHEMISTRY STUDENTS AND YOUNG CHEMISTRY ALUMNI

Bagikan:

BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -Chemistry Study Program in collaboration with HMK ‘AMISCA’ ITB and Alumni Association of Chemistry Study Program, Institut Teknologi Bandung, held ISO 17025: 2017 Training on Laboratory Testing and Calibration and ISO 14044: 2017 Training on Life Cycle Assessment for final year students and young alumni (those who just graduated in April 2023) for undergraduate level on May 27-28, 2023. This is the second event carried out since October 2022 which was attended by 40 participants.

This activity was held with a limited quota of 50 participants. Prospective training participants can choose one of these training sessions. These two training courses are filled by reliable trainers who are practitioners in their fields and come from professional trainer institutions, namely Algebra training and consulting with Avogadro public training. The trainers are ITB chemistry alumni who are members of the ITB Chemistry Alumni Association. One of the trainers, namely Kang Sujarwo (2004 Chemistry Alumni), said that this activity really contributed to the future for prospective alumni and young alumni to increase their understanding and provision of hard skills in the industrial world related to ISO. In fact, the types of ISO training are very diverse, but they are tailored to current industry needs. Apart from that, the chairman of IAKI, Indra Rinaldhi (1999 Chemistry Alumni), said that ignorance and lack of knowledge among young alumni and prospective young alumni of ITB chemistry regarding basic ISO laboratories was very apparent when we interviewed or looked at the track record of our current alumni. Even though it is very necessary when they want to get a license and certification that is recognized in a wider scope. Therefore, the ITB Chemistry Study Program together with IAKI and HMK ‘AMISCA’ ITB will commit that this activity will become a routine activity before or after the graduation moment at ITB.

This activity is a trigger for students to learn about professional training and be assessed by a certified training institution. This will be an additional point for participants who have taken part in this training to be able to take part in national level training because one of the requirements is that they have attended this type of training. This activity is assessed directly by the training institution and the participants can get a certificate of completion from the training institution. If they do not pass it, they will receive a certificate for having attended the training only.

Dr. Muhammad Yudhistira Azis, MSi, as the student affairs advisor for the ITB Chemistry study program, really appreciates this activity by bringing a spirit of competition and competence after the pandemic. It is hoped that it will revive and students from the ITB chemistry study program will not be less competitive in the future regarding their understanding and ISO hard skills. In the future, this type of training will be more diverse, with larger quotas and of course free for students and young alumni who participate. MYA
