ITB Graduation August 2025: Sowing Knowledge, Reaping Devotion
BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id,- Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held its Third Graduation for the 2024/2025 Academic Year on Sunday, 31 August 2025, at Sasana Budaya Ganesha (Sabuga). This procession is an important moment for graduates from various faculties and schools at ITB, who have completed their academic journey on ITB campuses in Bandung, Jatinangor, Jakarta and Cirebon. Graduation is not only a marker of graduation, but also a transition towards real service in society. In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the graduates celebrated their achievements with their families, lecturers and academic community.
At this graduation, a total of 83 graduates from various levels of scientific education Fisika. The Physics Undergraduate Study Program (102) graduated 47 people, the Physics Masters Program (202) graduated 12 people, the Physics Doctoral Program (302) graduated 5 people, the Physics Teaching Program (247) graduated 8 people, and the Nuclear Science and Engineering Program (249) graduated 1 person. This number reflects the continuity of education and research in the field of physics, as well as commitment to the development of science and technology from basic to advanced levels.
In the graduation procession, the graduates conveyed ITB Graduate Promise, a pledge that confirms their commitment to dedicate science to the welfare of the nation, humanity and world peace. They promised to uphold scholarly ethics, honesty and the nobility of science, and remain loyal to the character of developing Indonesian scholarship. This promise also includes a commitment to maintain the good name of the alma mater, Bandung Institute of Technology, wherever they are located. This pledge is a reminder that a college degree is not only an academic achievement, but also a moral and social responsibility.
The Parable of the Tree
In his speech, the Chancellor of ITB conveyed a reflective message through the parable of a tree. Students are likened to seeds sown in the soil of ITB, watered with knowledge, fertilized with guidance, and illuminated by inspiration. After years of growth and facing various challenges, they have now become sturdy young trees, ready to provide shade and the fruit of knowledge for the community. However, for the tree to continue to live and be useful, it must remain healthy in spirit, healthy in body, healthy in manners, healthy in taste, healthy in spirit and healthy in work. Because this nation not only needs smart people, but also people who are healthy in thinking, behaving, empathizing and doing real work.
Andi Safa Afianzar: Youngest Entry, Youngest Graduate
One of the figures who stood out at this graduation was Andi Safa Afianzar, student from the Bachelor of Physics study program FMIPA ITB, who became youngest graduate. He completed his studies with honors Summa Cum Laude and is now recorded in the program fast track bachelor-master integration. Four years ago, Andi was also known as ITB's youngest student, having accelerated his education twice before entering college. In his final assignment entitled "The Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions to Non-Linear Wave Equations in Curved Spacetime with Dimensions (1+1)", Andi demonstrated the depth of understanding in theoretical physics. This research was supervised by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Bobby Eka Gunara, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Fiki Taufik Akbar Sobar, S.Si., M.Si., as well as being in the shade High Energy Theoretical Physics Expertise Group. Andi is a clear example that age is not a limit to achieving the highest academic achievements, and that enthusiasm for learning and perseverance can bring someone to the forefront of science.
