Bandung, fmipa.itb.ac.id – Friday, September 19, 2014, The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) ITB held introduction courses of the Study Programs for the first year students of FMIPA 2014. This event is an annual event held in order to welcome and provide more detailed explanations about the Study Programs in FMIPA ITB. The information will be beneficial for the students to their future Study Programs.

The event started at 13:33 by the PR team Wahyu Hidayat, M.Sc. and was opened officially by the dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Umar Fauzi. He gave a warm welcome to the students and told to never be discouraged. He told them to always get more active in carrying out lectures in this beloved campus. Afterwards, the session was continued Prof. Dra. Fida Madayanti Citizen, MS, Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs FMIPA ITB. She described the characteristics of each of the Study Programs, graduates’ profile, and the process of the selection. The selection also depended on student’s interest and academic achievements since each of the Study Program has its quota.

The event continued with the introduction of the Astronomy Bachelor Study Program by its chairman, Dr. Dhani Herdiwijaya, M.Sc.. He elaborated on the weighting values to enter Astronomy Study Program, its disciplines to applications of astronomy. The introduction continued by Dr. Agus Yodi who explained the Mathematics bachelor Study Program followed by the introduction of Chemistry bachelor Study Program by Dr. Bunbun Bundjali. Both of them spoke about the weight rating, knowledge, and the application expertise of each of the Study Programs. Introduction to the Physics Bachelor Study Program was not done because the speaker was unable to attend.

The last event was meeting with the Guardian Lecturer (Dosen Wali). All participants were divided into four major groups with different Guardian Lecturer based on their Study Program. After that, they got together and got acquainted with faculty trustee. In this meeting, the Guardians and the students discussed many things regarding studying in college. (levi)
