WEBINAR SERIES OF THE 2023 COMBINATORICS TODAY SERIES: HILDA ASSIYATUN, PH.D. FROM INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG
31 Maret 2022

BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -Hilda Assiyatun, Ph.D, one of Indonesia’s figures in Combinatorics, last Friday, March 31, 2023 at 14.00 – 15.30 WIB, gave a guest lecture in the webinar series of the 2023 Combinatorics Today Series (The 2023 CTS) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institut Teknologi Bandung. The title of the lecture was “On Ramsey-minimal graphs for combinations containing matchings, paths, or stars”. If F, G, and H are simple graphs, the notation F –> (G,H) in a Ramsey-minimal graph means that for every red-blue coloring on an edge F will always result in a red subgraph of G or a blue subgraph of H. If F –> (G,H), then F is called the Ramsey graph for (G,H). Additionally, if F satisfies that (F- e) -/-> (G,H) for any edge e of F, then F is called a (G,H)-minimal Ramsey graph. The set of all Ramsey minimal graphs (G,H) is denoted by R(G,H). The study of Ramsey minimal graphs was started by Burr, Erdős, and Lovász in 1976. In this lecture, Hilda Assiyatun, Ph.D discussed several recent advances, especially construction methods for combinations containing matchings, trajectories, or stars.

Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro, Chair of the 2023 CTS Committee, said that Hilda Assiyatun, Ph.D. is one of the Indonesian mathematicians who has made a major contribution to the field of Combinatorial Mathematics. She has written about 52 Scopus indexed publications with an H Index of 9. “Hilda Assiyatun, Ph.D., currently serves as President of the Indonesian Combinatorial Society (InaCombs) (May 2022 – present) and Vice President of the Indonesian Mathematics Society (IndoMS) (Nov 2020 – present)”, he added.

The 2023 CTS event was organized by Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group and took place throughout 2023. The March 31, 2023, edition was attended by around 45 participants (lecturers, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students) from various universities in Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, and several other countries.
