PROF. M. SALMAN GAVE A PUBLIC LECTURE AT THE COMBINATORICS TODAY SERIES, FMIPA ITB, AUGUST 18, 2023
BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -Prof. M. Salman A.N., one of Indonesia’s figures in Combinatorics, last Friday, August 18, 2023 at 14.00 – 15.30 WIB gave a public lecture at the 2023 Combinatorics Today Series (2023 CTS) at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). The title of the lecture was “The locating rainbow connection number of graphs”. G is a finite and connected graph with order n >= 2. In 2021, Prof. Salman et al. introduced the locating rainbow connection number of G, denoted by rvcl(G), which combines the concepts of multicolored vertex coloring and partition dimension of a graph. In this lecture, Prof. Salman presented several results regarding this new concept. First, the lower and upper bounds for rvcl(G) were presented. Then, a characterization of the graph G with rvcl(G)=2 or rvc(G) =n was given. Next, locating rainbow connection numbers were discussed in several graph classes, namely complete graphs, paths, stars, regular bipartite graphs, and trees. In addition, locating rainbow connection numbers from complete graph amalgamations were presented. In the final section, several open issues for further research were discussed.
Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro, Chair of the 2023 CTS Committee, said that Prof. Salman is a productive researcher and has made significant contributions to graph labeling. He has written about 92 Scopus indexed publications with an H Index of 19 and has received 1,021 citations. Until 2023, Prof. Salman supervised 19 doctoral students, 72 master’s students, and 34 bachelor’s students.
The 2023 CTS activity was organized by Combinatorial Mathematics Research Group, FMIPA ITB, and took place throughout 2023. The August 18, 2023 edition was attended by around 33 participants (lecturers, researchers, and undergraduate and graduate students) from various universities in Indonesia, Iran, and several other countries.
