BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id. -Tuesday, June 13, 2023, ITB, coordinated by FMIPA ITB, organized the opening ceremony for the National Olympiad in Mathematics and Natural Sciences for Higher Education (ONMIPA PT/Olimpiade Nasional Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Perguruan Tinggi). This year, ITB was chosen to host the 2023 Higher Education ONMIPA which would be held on June 13-17, 2023. This Olympics was attended by 260 participants from 94 universities throughout Indonesia.

The Opening Ceremony of ONMIPA PT began with a speech from the 2023 ONMIPA PT Local Committee Coordination at ITB, Dr. Deana Wahyuningrum, S.Si., M.Si. Then, it was continued with a speech from the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, FMIPA ITB, Prof. Dr. Rukman Hertadi S.Si., M.Si., and Head of the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI/Kepala Balai Pengembangan Talenta Indonesia), Asep Sukmayadi, S. IP, M. Si., conveyed several programs in the field of science that would be carried out by BPTI in the future.

The Rector of ITB, represented by the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M. Eng., gave a speech and officially opened the 2023 ONMIPA PT activities. He conveyed the importance of ONMIPA activities as a means of promoting the field of science to the younger generation. By competing in the 2023 ONMIPA PT, the younger generation will learn softskill that are not taught in the curriculum. In this way, they will know that the field of science has a bright future even though it cannot currently be seen by the general public.
