JAKARTA, fmipa.itb.ac.id, -“Nurtanio Award and Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo Memorial Lecture 2025” was held by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) on Thursday 27 November 2025 at the B.J Building. Habibie, BRIN, Jakarta. This award is also a prestigious scientific platform to honor the father of Indonesian aerospace, Mr. Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo. Nurtanio Pringgoadisuryo Memorial Lecture in the form of a scientific oration by Prof. Premana Wardayanti Premadi, Ph.D., a leading astrophysicist from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and former Head of the Bosscha Observatory. In his speech entitled “The Role of Space Science and Technology in the Effort to Understand Ourselves and the Universe”Prof. Premana spoke not only about the technical aspects of astronomy but also touched on the philosophical and existential aspects of humankind. He highlighted how space science is not merely about conquering the heavens, but also a mirror for understanding humanity's small but special position in the universe. His presentation invited the audience to reflect on the importance of scientific literacy in building a critical and visionary civilization. He also emphasized that mastery of space technology is key to the nation's knowledge sovereignty in the future.
