BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id, โ€“The Chemistry Study Program of FMIPA ITB, in collaboration with the ITB Chemistry Alumni Association (IAKI), the ITB Chemistry Student Association 'AMISCA,' and supported by PT Karya Nadiso Utama, PT Mauri Technology Indonesia, and PT Paragon Technology and Innovation, successfully conducted a laboratory quality management training for the first time. This training aimed to equip students with the understanding, application, and skills needed in industrial laboratories related to the Integrated Management System (IMS). This event served as a necessary training for industries to prepare young alumni and prospective graduates with initial knowledge and understanding of laboratory quality management. The training, titled: Laboratory Quality Management based on Integrated Management System (IMS) Awareness Training (ISO 9001; ISO 14001; ISO 45001), was held over two days, on June 22-23, 2024. It covered clauses and the implementation of the integration of three different ISO standards, namely ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). These standards are essential for ensuring that laboratory management in terms of quality, environment, and occupational safety is understood by personnel working in any industry or company. Personnel who will work in laboratory-based companies must receive this training before starting their employment.

The training featured speakers who are experts in their fields, specifically ITB Chemistry alumni with extensive experience in Quality Management. The speakers included Karim Abdullah (KIโ€™05, BSPJI Bandar Lampung, PT Aljabar Anugrah Selaras) and Sujarwo Suryaputra (KIโ€™05, BRIN, PT Aljabar Anugrah Selaras). Both are experienced trainers and practitioners from the PT Aljabar Anugrah Selaras training team, as well as ITB Chemistry alumni. In addition to theoretical knowledge that aligns with their coursework, participants received highly positive feedback from the training. They gained firsthand experience in the direct application of laboratory quality management systems, such as creating safety forms for a company's laboratory, presenting the usage of relevant standards, and working in teams with different roles. These simulations were just a small part of the training, which significantly enhanced participants' understanding of laboratory quality management in the industry.

The total number of participants in this training series reached 50, comprising final-year chemistry students and recent graduates from ITB's undergraduate chemistry program, as well as postgraduate students from the FMIPA ITB chemistry program. Dr. Muhammad Yudhistira Azis, M.Si, the student coordinator for the FMIPA ITB chemistry program, stated that this training activity facilitates students and equips them to meet the needs of integrated laboratory quality management standards in the industry. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from their active participation in practical sessions and discussions. This event demonstrates the commitment of the Chemistry Study Program of FMIPA ITB, IAKI, and HMK 'AMISCA' ITB to enhancing the quality and competence of their members. With this training, ITB chemistry students are expected to become professional workers with high-quality skills, ready to compete in the global job market, particularly in the field of laboratory quality management systems.
