TANGSEL, fmipa.itb.ac.id, –The South Tangerang (Tangsel) City Government (Pemkot) through the Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) is again strengthening efforts to improve the quality of science teachers through the Science Teacher Competency Training Program, in collaboration with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

The activity, which was held in the Blandongan Hall, Puspemkot Tangsel, on Wednesday (19/11/2025) presented lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences ITB as the main speakers.

Deputy Mayor of South Tangerang, Pilar Saga Ichsan, said that this training was an important opportunity to enrich methods and mastery of material for junior high school science teachers. He emphasized that collaboration with ITB had made a significant contribution to increasing the competency of teaching staff in South Tangerang.

"I would like to thank the Bandung Institute of Technology, especially MIPA ITB. Today, especially theoretical physics, how can it be given to our science teachers, so that the teaching of physics in schools is also more stable and many students can excel in the future," said Pilar.

This training is certainly a golden moment for teachers to be able to increase their capacity.

"I advise that this is a golden opportunity from ITB to provide teaching, teaching methods, or knowledge that can be developed by science teachers in junior high schools throughout South Tangerang. The aim is to increase the quality of teachers and produce quality student human resources," he said.

Of course, said Pilar, it is not easy to get time from ITB lecturers to teach directly. For this reason, he emphasized that these two days of activities need to be utilized optimally.

"Once again, this is a golden opportunity to study in these two days. It is not easy to find time from the lecturers from ITB to be able to teach," he said.

Regarding future cooperation, the South Tangerang City Government is committed to extending cooperation with ITB. He explained that the previous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had ended in 2019, and updates were now being prepared so that various programs to improve the quality of education could continue.

"Insya Allah, we will extend the MoU. Because the previous MoU expired in 2019, God willing, we can continue it again so that there are further programs from ITB. Please, if there are any programs in the South Tangerang City Government to be used as a locus for study, we will open them as wide as possible. This is a very good collaboration and provides many opportunities for us to learn," he explained.
