Chemistry competency training for high school teachers and students in Majalengka Regency
BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id —The Organic Chemistry Scientific Group (KK) of FMIPA ITB held a Chemistry Competency Training for high school teachers and students in Majalengka Regency, West Java, on August 19, 2025. This activity is part of the FMIPA ITB Community Service Program through the PPMI-KK 2025 grant scheme, which was implemented in collaboration with the Chemistry Subject Teachers' Conference (MGMP) of Majalengka Regency, SMAN 1 Majalengka, and supported by the Education Office of Region IX of West Java Province.
The series of activities include:
🔹️Simple chemistry practicum demonstration by the Chemistry Student Association “AMISCA” FMIPA ITB for high school teachers and students.
🔹️A talk show discussing the introduction to chemistry and study tips in the Chemistry Study Program, FMIPA ITB, especially for students.
🔹️Material sessions for teachers, including:
• Understanding chemical concepts in everyday life.
• Introduction to the international chemistry olympiad curriculum.
• The latest chemical technology in determining molecular structures, which plays an important role in supporting raw material independence in the chemical, pharmaceutical, materials and energy sectors.
At the closing session, the ITB FMIPA Organic Chemistry Study Group handed over a number of books to high school chemistry teachers throughout Majalengka Regency, namely:
💠 Chemistry and Its Uses: Indonesian Chemical Plants Volume III, by a lecturer in Organic Chemistry, FMIPA ITB.
💠 105 SPEKTRA IN HARMONIA PROGRESSIO: Inspirational Stories of ITB Chemistry Alumni, compiled by the ITB Chemistry Alumni Association Team.
💠 Nobel Laureates: Organic Chemistry, written by Dr. Elvira Hermawati and Ade Danova, Ph.D., with students.
