BANDUNG, fmipa.itb.ac.id – The end of the second semester of the 2013/2014 academic year is the time where first year (TPB) students decide which study program they want to have for the next three years until their Bachelor’s degree. Among these students are those who have defined their goal; however, there are still numerous students who are undecided.

To avoid students making a poor choice for their future, LTPB assigned the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science (FMIPA) to give the TPB students a presentation on the various study programs as well as a brief explanation of what they will have to deal with in the future if they choose each of those programs. This presentation and discussion session held by FMIPA ITB took place on Saturday (26/4/14) in Oktagon Lecture Hall.

The TPB students were presented an explanation about each of the study programs in FMIPA, which are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. The speakers include lecturers and professors from the respective study program. “TPB students need the opinion and the experience of their seniors as an input for making their decision; therefore, they need to interact with their seniors,” said Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Umar Fauzi, Dean of FMIPA ITB. The TPB students were welcomed to interact and have a discussion with their seniors in FMIPA who are currently in the Students Organization of their respective majors.

This introduction program is also part of an event organized collectively by Mathematics Student Organization (HIMATIKA ITB), Physics Student Organization (HIMAFI ITB), Chemistry Student Organization (AMISCA ITB), and Astronomy Student Organization (HIMASTRON ITB). In the event, the TPB students are not only presented about the academic life in each of the major, but also the organizational experience in each of the students organization. Also, various programs were also organized by the student organization for the TPB students to know and bond with each other even more.
